GH 201: Introduction to the Great Works: Studies in Epic Literature
Course Description
This course introduces some of the world’s great works of epic literature. The central point of discussion for this course will cover epic definitions, composition, style, technique, 类型, characteristics, as well as literary terms and conventions. Included in the study of epic will be the 《bc菠菜导航》 and the 奥德赛 of 首页r, the 埃涅阿斯记 by Vergil, the Anglo-Saxon Beowulf, Paradise Lost by John Milton. Selected passages from these works will be read and discussed for analysis and comparison. (At least one major project or two minor projects will be required for the semester.)
